As a junior at Washington University in St. Louis, Katie Wang is bringing her New York style to the Midwest. When she's not cramming for her exams, she's usually hanging out with her friends, checking out new music, and constantly trendspotting. With an eclectic taste in music and fashion, she surfs edgy online trend sites and visits music blogs religiously. Coming from NYC, Katie loves learning about different cultures and she hopes to have the chance to do more traveling around the world.

If you could go back into any decade, which would you choose?
The 60’s because it was such a cultural turning point.


What is the one object in your home that you're embarrassed to own?
I have all these mini notebooks (some were fuzzy, some where sparkly) that I used to love writing in, but looking back, I was just overly girly and the notebooks are so tacky!


What was your favorite meal growing up?
I had a phase when I only ate mashed potatoes for dinner.


Where is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
The beach and the Grand Canyon


What is your greatest addiction?
My friends


Where is the worst place to be stuck waiting?
The airport!


Name one celebrity that has no right being a celebrity.
The cast of The Hills.


What hobby have you always wanted to pick up?
I’ve always wanted to learn some kind of martial art.


What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
Snooze!


How do you relieve stress?
Online shopping, even if I don’t actually buy anything.


What book would you suggest for everyone you know to read?
Watership Down—I read it so many years ago, but it’s such a great classic.


When flying, are you a window person or an aisle rider?
Window for long flights, aisle for short flights.


What is your favorite childhood cartoon?
Batman


Where was the first place you were employed and what did you do?
I worked at an after-school program at my elementary school, assisting teachers who taught outdoor sports, art, and theater.


If you had to be in a music video would you be a backup dancer or backup singer?
Dancer, even though I don’t dance.


Did you ever play a musical instrument; if so what did you play?
I tried the viola for a year and then the clarinet for another year in elementary and middle school. They were both fun at the time, but I never continued—I preferred visual arts.


If you could choose to posses a superhuman power what would it be?

I’d definitely want to fly… to avoid all the traffic jams in NYC!


If you could open your own restaurant, retail store, or on-line website what would it be like?  What products or services would you provide?
I would love to have my own spa, so I can enjoy it as much as everyone else.

Stars


What have you done for the environment lately; do you have any “Go Green” advice?
For people like me who love shopping and finding out about cool new gadgets, there are a lot of great eco-friendly products out there today. Do some research before you go shopping next time and you’ll find that shopping becomes a lot of more rewarding when you’re buy something green.

What is one fun fact you can say about yourself?  
I lived in China until I was 6 yrs old.
