Movie: Fantasy Flick: Alice in Wonderland
Don’t be late for this very important date with the fantastical characters down the rabbit hole — brought to life (at last!) in a way only the quirky yet genius mind of director Tim Burton (The Nightmare Before Christmas) can. Alice in Wonderland (opening March 5) may share its name with its predecessors also based on the book by Lewis Carroll, but this version takes a twist on the old tale. Alice (played by standout Australian actress Mia Wasikowska) is now 19 years old and returns to Wonderland ten years after her last visit… purely by accident. She quickly learns she’s the only one who can slay the Jabberwock dragon who is wreaking havoc on the charm of Wonderland. With a superstar lineup, including Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, and Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, this new take on the classic tale is sure to cement Alice’s spot in pop culture in a whole new way!

Movie: Dramatic Gem: Remember Me
Teens may flock to this film to see the guy who made vampires the hottest species on the planet, but they’ll leave it changing their entire worldview. Best known as The Twilight Saga’s brooding Edward Cullen, Robert Pattinson takes on the very human character of Tyler Hawkins, a young New Yorker trying to navigate his way through a tough life in 2001 in Remember Me (opening March 12). His workaholic dad ignores his middle school-age sister and his older brother committed suicide when he turned 22 — a landmark Tyler himself is about to hit. After a misunderstanding leads to a fight with a cop, his best pal challenges him to get to know the cop’s daughter, Ally Craig (Lost’s Emilie de Ravin). Turns out she’s got her own tragedy— she witnessed her mom’s murder as a kid — and the two form an undeniable bond that leads them to cherish life in just the right way. Ironically, it just might be the shocking ending that’s the best selling point of the film (don’t worry, no spoilers!), but just know this is one affective film that’s sure to stay with you and make you savor life’s little moments more than ever.

Movie: Cult Classic: The Runaways
Rob Pattinson isn’t the only Twilight Saga star hitting the theater this month with a whole new persona. His fellow vampire costars Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning take on the 70s — and its male-dominated music scene in The Runaways (opening March 19). Based on the real-life story of the groundbreaking teen girl rock band, Kristen plays Joan Jett and Dakota takes on Cherie Currie as they rock and roll their way into history books with songs like “Cherry Bomb” and “Queens of Noise” — and fall into a whirlwind lifestyle that comes in tow. Already receiving rave reviews at its Sundance Film Festival debut, the actresses are being praised not only for their acting performances, but for their singing chops as well. The soundtrack (coming out March 16 online and March 23 in stores on Atlantic Records) features tracks actually sung by the two that just might be a, well, runaway hit!

Movie:Animated Adventure: How to Train Your Dragon
The title may be instruction manual-like, but the new DreamWorks animated film How to Train Your Dragon (opening March 26) is actually a lesson in taking charge of your own life. The 3D movie follows a Viking teen named Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel) who’s in training to learn how to fight dragons — but realizes that instead of viewing them as the enemy, he can try to befriend them. His friendship with a rare dragon named Toothless shows him that rules can be broken as he learns to stand up to his tribe — and its chief, his father Stoick (voiced by Gerard Butler). With a feel-good inspirational message and animation so true-to-life that you’ll question if it’s “real” at certain points, this film (loosely based on the book by the same name) just might do for dragons what Twilight did for vampires!

Movie: Heart-Tugging Romance: The Last Song
Miley Cyrus definitely has the best of both worlds — but there’s no trace of Hannah Montana in her new movie based on a Nicholas Sparks’ book, The Last Song (opening March 31). The teen queen takes on a dramatic twist as a rebellious teen, Ronnie Miller, who’s sent from her New York City home to a quiet southern beach town to spend a summer with her estranged father (Greg Kinnear). The two used to share a bond — a love of classical piano, but Ronnie has no interest in reconnecting with him. She soon runs into a southern good boy Will (Australian newcomer Liam Hemsworth) who changes her perspective on life… and helps Ronnie realize the true value of her time with her dad. Complete with new Miley songs on the soundtrack, this movie’s sure to find its way to the top of the movie and music charts.

Tech: PSP go
As if the Sony PSPs weren’t already easy enough to take along with you, the PSP go is making it even easier. With a 3.8-inch display screen that slides, the PSP go ($249.99, available at retailers like Costco, Best Buy, Target, Amazon) is 40 percent lighter and 50 percent smaller than the original PSP that came out five years ago. But the sleeker size doesn’t mean it lacks any bells or whistles. The system has 16GB of internal memory (with expandable storage through a Memory Stick Micro) to store plenty of music, video, photos, and games on it. Plus it has wireless connection through Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. All that digital power in a design that really can fit in your pocket? Sounds like the PSP go is definitely the way to go!
